The twi'lekki soap opera, /Days of our Ryll/, is interrupted by an IGN BREAKING NEWS BULLETIN. Seated at his usual desk is Ghon Stoort, the suit-clad human gentleman looking concerned and distracted as he addresses the camera.
"Thanks for joining us - I'm Ghon Stoort. Stunning news from Ord Mantell today as an attack was made on a Republican armored transport en-route to the Government Complex..! We're joined live by our Senior Explosion Analyst, Steefin Col'Bhar. Steefin, what /happened/?"
The view shifts to a grim-faced, bespectacled Chiss man standing on what is identified along the bottom of the screen as being the Avenue of the Righteous, New Alderaan. Cordoned off about fifty feet behind him is a heavily damaged armored transport that has been flipped onto its side, and two stalled swoops. As Steefin speaks, a small picture-in-picture window opens in the corner airing video of that same intersection during the firefight - blaster fire is raining down on the transport, already flipped over, from a rooftop nearby. Two Jedi with lightsabers in hand - one human and one black felinoid - guard the rear door of the transport as the battle rages.
"Ghon. The scene here was one of madness. The New Republic was transporting former Imperial Supreme Commander, Grand Admiral Danik Kreldin, to the Government Complex, where he faces a highly publicised trial for his crimes against humanity. As you'll recall, he was responsible for such atrocities as the Chandrilan Massacre and the Desolation of Grinndal - millions of lives, if not billions, were ended at his hands."
The video shows a Kasa horansi suddenly emerging from the back of the transport with an old man wrapped in one of the Jedi's robes in her arms, and a second man wearing a Republic FleetOps uniform on her back, and go racing for cover in a nearby building while the two Jedi attempt to cover her escape. It's hard to tell if any are hits, but several shots follow them as they disappear from view. One sniper takes a header off the building with a muffled Wilhelm scream.
"The attackers, eight in all, were a group seeking Kreldin's death in revenge for the Desolation at Grinndal, reportedly spurred into action by Ord Mantell Senator Alistair Al'Dira's remarks to IGN earlier this month." Steefin arches his eyebrows and silently mouths 'oops' before his expression is, once again, grim as can be. "Thanks to the intervention of New Republic military personnel - two of whom weren't even on-duty at the time - and several Jedi, the assassination attempt was /unsuccessful/. There were, however, several injuries, and charges are being filed by the state."
Ghon nods solemnly as the view returns to him. "And I'm told that Kreldin's trial is to continue on as scheduled... thank you, Steefin. We'll be watching this story as it develops."
